Great Work Day

We got started today with a bang. The stove in the guest house must have a leak and there was a gas smell this morning. When checking it out the gas built up in the oven exploded, scaring a few of us. We shut it down and vowed to check where the leak is at the earliest possibility. It could have been much worse.
The Customs official arrived at the ranch this morning around 8am and we were permitted to open the 20' container that was delivered yesterday. Every box and roll of wire was accounted for and finally the container was completely empty. Having two lifting vehicles on site we were able to hoist the generators onto the pad into their permanent locations. While we were unloading the container some of the workers on the ranch came out of the hills with two pigs hanging on a pole. We thought initially that they were going to be lunch, but they were a male and female pair that is destined to breed and they are quite alive.

We began digging the trenches for the underground conduits and finished the runs in one of the trenches to the shop. We will finish trenching tomorrow and expect to be pulling some wires into the conduits. One priority is to get power to the Murcott's house and we are hoping to be able to complete that in the next few days. We are in the process of wiring up the shop and things are going pretty well in spite of the fact that some essential fittings were never ordered for the job, so we are doing some on-the-spot improvising.

We shared in some of the local native food today and it was very good. Lucy, the oldest Murcott daughter showed us how it is done and all the children participated in the process. It was also good to eat some coconut "marshmallow", and drink from fresh coconuts.

The day ended up with a dinner out at a local Chinese Restaurant. Everything we had from it was delicious.

Everyone is very tired tonight and tomorrow will be a new experience we are all looking forward to.
